Larry and Tina's travel adventures on a 42' Catamaran.

Who Were These Pirates Before They became Caribbean Pirates?

They were the previous owners of Zeppe's Italian Water Ice In North Ogden, Utah. They built this little ice cream shop (that's not really an ice cream shop) from an old house in an urban area in 2008. Zeppe's has been open since 2009-present but These Pirates owned it from 2009-2013

27 Waterfalls / 27 Charcos

We took Carter on a beautiful drive through the country to a national park called Damajaqua.  They have different levels of natural waterfalls that you slide down through.  There hasn't been a lot of rainfall for 2 years, so it wasn't as good as it could have been, but you could tell if it was full of water, it would have been a blast!

The cliff was about a 30 foot drop and I chickened out.  In the video, I am holding my head trying to convince myself that I really wanted to do this.  I was a bit scared of hitting the wall and freezing to death.

                                                                   We can do this!

We came and we conquered 30 ft cliffs, rocky slides, and the cold water!

Puerto Plata Part 2

The hill in the back is the closest picture I could get that was close to the pictures from Jurassic Park, but from the ocean, along the coast, it was really beautiful.  In November, I will take the pictures and post them.

                                                             Main roads in Puerto Plata.

Anyone up for Dominoes Pizza tonight?  The only American restaurant around.  Not even a McDonald's or Subway here.  Actually wouldn't mind even a cheeseburger and fries from Mickey Dee's about now and I would kill for a fountain Coke!!

Luperon Part 2

Larry taught Carter how to drive the dinghy.  He was way better than I was my first time.  He didn't run over the other dinghys like I did.  Now we have Captain Carter.

Fishing boats getting ready to head out to the Bahamas to bring back a load of illegally caught fish.

This is the dinghy dock we come to everyday.  At high tide the right side is partially in the water, but Hey! it works, right?

The main street of Luperon.  The Dominicans houses are inter mixed with the stores.  Here, it shows a car being fixed right on the side of the road.

I was walking down the "sidewalk" and this pig grunted real loud and scared the **** out of me.  Larry laughed for hours, so it was worth it, but the story is...the next day the pig was hanging from the outside of the house in pieces for sale.  Lots of things to get used to, but I guess this is the way they used to do things, back in the "old" days.

Sailing Day With Carter

We really wanted to take Carter sailing to another island but it is hurricane season and we decided to play it safe...this time.  We went around the corner to Punta Rusia (about 17nm).  We got up early and by just after noon, we were there.  Of course Carter slept through the whole sail! He now knows what mal de mer is - seasick.  I tried fishing but we should have brought live bait.

                                                                Anchoring at Punta Rusia

                                                                    Surrounded by reefs!

Getting the fishing line off the prop... Again!

Puerto Plata

About once a week, we get on the motorcycle (we bought one) and drive about 45 minutes to the big city.  La Sirena is a large supermarket like Walmart, but not as big.  We can get a lot of American products here, plus I trust their food handling a little bit more than in Luperon.  I say a bit more because I bought a can of beans and in it was a worm. (see below)  The drive like maniacs here, weaving in and out of cars, even going the wrong way.

I am not sure which one was more disgusting... the worm on the fork or the traditional beans and rice dish from the Dominicans.

Hola Chica!  Carter's checking out the girls in the grocery store.
